How to Reset Your Life When You Feel Off Track
Share
There are times where I just feel… off.
Not in a dramatic way.
Just like I’m not fully myself.
My routine is off, my energy feels weird, I’m overthinking everything, and somehow even the smallest things feel harder than they should.
And for a long time, my first thought was always:
“I need to completely get my life together.”
But I’ve realized…
you don’t need a full life reset.
You just need a few small things that bring you back to yourself.
1. Start with a reset day (not a full life overhaul)
Whenever I feel off, I don’t try to fix everything at once anymore.
I just give myself a reset day.
Nothing extreme. Nothing overwhelming.
Just simple things like:
- cleaning up my space
- taking a shower and getting ready
- going on a walk
- putting my phone down for a bit
It’s not about being productive—it’s about feeling better.
Because most of the time, you’re not “behind”… you’re just disconnected from your normal rhythm.
2. Clean your space = clear your mind
This is one of the fastest ways I shift my mood.
When my room is messy, my mind feels messy.
When everything feels all over the place around me, I feel the same internally.
Even just taking 10–20 minutes to reset your space can make such a difference.
It’s like giving yourself a fresh start without having to change anything else.
3. Get ready for the day (even if you’re not going anywhere)
This is something that has helped me way more than I expected.
Even if I’m just staying home… I still try to get ready.
Not in a “full glam” way—just putting on something comfortable that I actually feel good in.
It sounds small, but it shifts your energy so much.
You carry yourself differently.
You feel more like you again.
That’s a big part of why I love having go-to pieces that are comfortable but still feel put together… it makes those everyday moments feel better.
4. Rebuild a simple routine (not a perfect one)
Whenever I feel off, it’s usually because I’ve fallen out of the small habits that keep me grounded.
So instead of trying to build the “perfect” routine, I just go back to a few basics:
- making my coffee and slowing down in the morning
- getting some kind of movement in
- focusing on one or two things I need to get done
That’s it.
You don’t need a full schedule... you just need a few consistent moments in your day.
5. Get out of your head and into your life
I’ve noticed when I feel the most off… I’m usually overthinking everything.
Thinking about what I should be doing.
Where I should be in life.
What everyone else is doing.
And it keeps me stuck.
The only thing that actually helps is doing something - anything.
Going outside. Running an errand. Starting the task I’ve been putting off.
Small action breaks that cycle way faster than sitting in your head ever will.
6. Stop thinking you’re behind
This one is big.
It’s so easy to feel like you’re behind, especially in your 20s.
Like everyone else has it figured out and you’re just trying to keep up.
But the truth is… you’re not behind.
You’re just in a different season.
I’ve had to remind myself of this so many times.
You’re allowed to have phases where things feel slower, messier, or unclear.
That doesn’t mean you’re doing life wrong.
7. Focus on how you feel, not fixing everything
At the end of the day, the goal isn’t to “fix your life.”
It’s to feel better in your life.
To feel calm.
To feel like yourself again.
To feel a little more grounded and present.
And that doesn’t come from doing everything perfectly.
It comes from small, intentional shifts.
If you’re feeling off right now, you don’t need to start over.
You don’t need a whole new routine, a whole new mindset, or a whole new version of yourself.
You just need to come back to the basics.
A few small habits.
A little reset.
A little more intention in your day.
That’s where everything starts to fall back into place.
